About Christian Wallace
Howdy. I’m a screenwriter and journalist from West Texas.
I grew up in a small town called Andrews. My family are cotton farmers, oil field hands, and working cowboys. Though I was steeped in these traditions, I knew early on that I wanted to be a writer. I was the first in my family to graduate from college (Texas State) and later earned a master's degree in writing from the University of Galway in Ireland. I returned to the States to work as a roughneck on the oil rigs surrounding my hometown.
Texas Monthly magazine hired me as a fact-checker in 2016. I was later promoted to staff writer and senior editor. During my tenure at “the National Magazine of Texas," I wrote seven cover stories. My storytelling has been nominated for three National Magazine Awards, as well as several state and regional awards. My stories have been optioned for Hollywood adaptation by HBO (the high-adrenaline world of oil field medics), Tom Hanks's Playtone (the Jackie Robinson of Rodeo, Myrtis Dightman), and Leonardo DiCaprio’s Appian Way (the legendary lawman, Bass Reeves).
I reported, wrote, and hosted Boomtown, a podcast about the Permian Basin. The series topped the Apple Podcasts chart in the documentary category and has more than five million downloads. Taylor Sheridan and I co-created a Paramount+ series loosely based on Boomtown called “Landman”. The show debuted on November 17, 2024.
I’m a member of the WGA-West and the Texas Institute of Letters. Represented by Geoff Shaevitz (gshaevitz@ent360.com) of Entertainment 360.
